Advent 2025

Advent Calendar of Giving

December 1st to December 24th

The Westboro Region Food Bank is once again inviting you to exercise your generosity muscle for the Season of Advent.

For each day of December, there are items requested to fill our shelves and the bags of our Food Bank neighbours. Some are special holiday items, and we appreciate your kindness to all in need.

Items can be dropped off on Sundays or weekdays from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Mittens, mittens, mittens everywhere!  Wool hats, scarves and wool socks are all welcome to be added to the bare Christmas tree in Steacy Hall. Underwear and sport socks should be new in the package.

All will be donated to Belong Ottawa for distribution.

New socks and underwear, hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes) and gift cards for places like Giant Tiger or Dollarama.

Celebrating the Spirit of Giving from the life of Saint Nicholas!

Loads of fun – stations for cookie decoration, filling gift bags for Food Bank neighbours, and filling up on hot chocolate and marshmallows. Fun for the mature saints and younger saints alike.

Blue Christmas Service

Sunday, December 21st at 7 pm

First United Church, along with All Saints’, is offering a service, also known as a “Longest Night” service, during the Advent season, designed for those who find the holidays difficult due to grief, loss, loneliness, or other struggles.

This service provides a contemplative space for honest reflection on pain, grief, and sadness, in contrast to the often celebratory public tone of the season.

Soup for the Soul will meet for soup and conversations before the Blue Christmas service. Learn more here.
