DESCRIPTION:Spring Fair: The GranAid Perennial Plant Sale and other activities will be held on Saturday\, May 16th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the courtyard in front of the church. \nIf you can\, please donate perennial plants that are healthy and well acclimatized (dug up this Spring from your garden). Plants can be left at the west side of the church the week before the plant sale (Monday May 11-Friday May 15). Please ensure that all plants are IN POTS AND LABELLED. \nOn the day of the sale\, volunteers are most welcome. If you would like to come and help us set up\, we will begin at around 8 am. Selling plants and chatting with fellow gardeners is great fun\, and of course it’s an excellent opportunity to shop for a few plants to add to your own garden. If you are interested in helping out with this event\, and for further information please contact Sally Baycroft. \nAll money raised from the plant sale will go to Fikelela\, the HIV/AIDS outreach and education program of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town\, South Africa.

The friends from the Legion also support many efforts of our Food Bank as well as the other projects and campaigns. We continue to remember all who have sacrificed in order for us to live with liberties\, remembering to be peacemakers and peace builders in a time where war and conflict is prominent throughout the world.

Each winter\, our community gathers to walk in the cold to show solidarity with women in our city who rely on us for shelter\, safety\, and support. \nWe invite you to bundle up\, join the walk\, and help ensure every woman has a warm place to turn this winter. \nWalk with us (2 or 5 km) or donate to support Cornerstone Housing for Women. DESCRIPTION:First United Church\, along with All Saints’\, is offering a service\, also known as a “Longest Night” service\, during the Advent season\, designed for those who find the holidays difficult due to grief\, loss\, loneliness\, or other struggles. This service provides a contemplative space for honest reflection on pain\, grief\, and sadness\, in contrast to the often celebratory public tone of the season. \nSoup for the Soul will meet for soup and conversations\, 5:30-6:30 pm. The group plans to attend the Blue Christmas service together after the meal. We wish to offer support for all who have experiencing grief and loss to join us for community and support.
