SUMMARY:PAL Hour: Conversations with Christian Publication Writers
DESCRIPTION:A Conversation Circle with David and LaVonne Neff \nDavid Neff was editor-in-chief and editorial vice president of Christianity Today Media Group for almost 25 years.  He was also a member of the executive committee for the National Association of Evangelicals. Before coming to Christianity Today\, he was editor-in-chief of Christian History magazine. \nLaVonne Neff has spent most of her professional life as an editor\, consultant\, and writer for Christian publishers\, including InterVarsity Press\, Sojourners\, The Christian Century\, and the blog Lively Dust. \nThe Neffs have seen many many trends come and go in Christian publishing\, and they share with many Canadians a deep concern over current religious and political polarization in the USA.  This conversation circle will provide an opportunity to hear about and ask questions regarding their professional and personal journeys. Mary and Ray Van Leeuwen will facilitate.

SUMMARY:Aging with Grace series: Housing Options
DESCRIPTION:The All Saints’ Westboro Pastoral Care Team\, led by Sally Lees and Scott Hagerman\, is launching our series of sharing sessions on various topics concerning smart aging. This session includes working through a resource provided by The Council on Aging Ottawa. A light lunch will be provided. Volunteers for baked goods are welcome. Please meet in Steacy Hall. \nBased on the survey conducted at the end of August\, we will begin the first session of this series with Housing Options in October. This session will spark conversations about changes in housing needs as we age\, paying attention to our feelings\, logistics\, and other factors that will impact our decisions on the future. We hope to offer community support while walking through this together\, as aging brings uncertainties and challenges. None of us have to face this alone. \nOur facilitator will be Donna Rouke\, who coordinated the Youth Internship Program for the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa and initiated “Seniors in Conversations” at Trinity Anglican in Ottawa. She has had extensive training and experience in long-term care and navigating housing options. \nRegister with the Parish Office\, office@allsaintswestboro.com and contact Rev Chung Yan for more details. Other sessions include “Avoiding Isolation” on November 22 and “Services for Staying at Home” on January 31. \nWe hope it will provide a safer space to converse about topics that are impacting and affecting our lives\, finding gentler ways to have crucial conversations\, and developing resilience together as we do all things — with grace!
