The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund is the Anglican Church of Canada’s agency for promoting sustainable development, providing emergency relief, assisting refugees and working for global justice. Through our financial contributions at ASW, we help make financial and human resources available to partners in Canada and around the world. Locally, the diocesan PWRDF committee sponsors education events to keep us informed about needs here in Canada, particular in First Nation communities, and elsewhere in the world. Our parish representative is Patricia Bays. To learn more about PWRDF and its recent projects, please visit its website at

granaidGranAid was begun by six grandmothers at All Saints’ Westboro to support grandmothers, aunties and even older siblings raising children who were orphaned by HIV/AIDS. We support these children through Fikelela which means ‘reach out’ in XHOSA, and is the outreach branch of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town, South Africa. Our funds are used for food, clothing, schooling as well as emotional support for both children and caregivers. Fikelela sends us an annual report – they are fully accountable.

How can I help GranAid?

By donating: Donations can by made through the church office. Income tax receipts are available for gifts over $10.00. GranAid cards are available if the donation is a gift.

  • $239.00 will support a child in the primary grades for a whole year and $259.00 will support a high school student for a year.
  • Even smaller gifts can help. School uniforms cost $39.00 each. $10;00 will purchase a school jersey, school supplies for one month, or a one-month supply of food.
  • By using our gift cards available at the office for memorials, birthdays, etc.
  • By buying Loblaw’s grocery cards which are convenient to use at no extra cost. The stores give us a percentage of what you spend.
  • By joining GranAid – we have expanded and you no longer have to be a grandmother.

How can I find out more about GranAid?

  • By phoning the church office
  • By going on the web or Facebook
  • Fikelela AIDS Project

Multifaith Housing is a grassroots coalition of many different faith communities in Ottawa, who work together to help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. They provide well maintained, affordable rental housing in safe neighbourly environments. There are three housing sites; Blake House, Kent house and Somerset Gardens. 50% of the units are rented to people on the waiting list for affordable housing with the city of Ottawa. The other 50% of the units are rented directly to people who apply to Multifaith Housing. The aim of Multifaith Housing is to support people so that their rent costs no more than 35% of their income. There are annual fund raising and educational events that involve the extended faith community like the Tulipathon Sponsored Walk and National Housing Day on the third Sunday of November. Multifaith Housing has many volunteer positions especially in maintenance and painting walls in order to lower costs so that they can keep rents affordable. Their web site is
