Carlington Community Centre is currently assisting 3 local families which include pregnant mothers. It will be a challenge
for the Baby Cupboard to assist these future "Moms and Tots". If you can help by donating diapers, wipes, baby products - blankets, washcloths,
crib linens, onesies, infant/baby clothing and nightgowns or robes for the Moms to wear at the hospital, please place in the box at the back of the church.
Cash donations are also helpful. Cheques payable to All Saints' Westboro (write For the Baby Cupboard on the memo line please).
What is GranAid?
GranAid is our parish response to the AIDS crisis in Africa. We are supporting grandmothers and aunties raising children orphaned by AIDS in the parish of
Holy Cross, Nyanga, in the Diocese of Cape Town.
We have been twinned with Holy Cross as part of the Fikelela project.
We raise funds so that the children can go to school. Holy Cross, Nyanga provides emotional support to the children and administers the project. In 2007, we provided over $16,000 to purchase school supplies, food, hygiene products and school uniforms for 42 children.
Why this project?
By dealing directly with Holy Cross, Nyanga we can support families without incurring administrative costs. All the funds we raise go to Nyanga and the goods are purchased in Nyanga which benefits the local economy.
