In April of 2007, All Saints' Westboro and First United Church entered into a special partnership. Both congregations share one building but maintain separate identities.
All Saints' holds Sunday services at 8:00am and 9:30am and First United worships at 11:15am.
Both churches entered into this partnership to strengthen their capacity for ministry by reducing the time, energy, and money spent in maintaining a building. We also intend to share programming and co-operate in outreach activities.
In the first year as partners we are:
jointly sponsored Weaving A Life, an exhibition of baskets woven by Mexican women, to raise money for clean water in their village
collaborated on outreach services for birth mothers, victims of violence, and a Blue Christmas Service
shared Lenten programming
held a weekend jazz workshop for our choirs
worshipped together, and
begun exploring each other’s worship traditions.
A Management Committee oversees our relationship and a Partnership Growth Committee explores ways to develop the relationship. A joint Property Committee has been quite busy in the first year adapting the building to meet the requirements of two active congregations, and developing priorities for upgrading the building.
